This role should be inhabited by someone who is comfortable doing the work needed on the ground to run a small organization, while also being able to pull up, reach out, and inspire diverse constituencies to rally and create a vibrant hub where feminist values can expand and be implemented purposefully. Gather RI’s all-star Board includes the head of the Latino Policy Institute, the Provost of RISD, the director of the Sarah Doyle Center at Brown, and the CEO of Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England. The organization has already attracted funding to cover building and launch costs, as well as major gifts to partially underwrite operations through 2026. It’s being founded as a charitable and educational 501c3.
Based in Providence, Gather RI will create collective momentum through inclusive and intentional connections for and by women and gender-expansive people. Planned programs include an inspirational portrait gallery, biographical library, speaker series and safe, accessible meeting spaces for the community to get together with peers, mentors and groups.
