Gather RI is seeking to commission approximately 35 Rhode Island artists to create original portraits for its inaugural show, Founders & Inventors: Women Who Created Our World, which will open in mid-2025 in conjunction with the launch of our new facility. The Dirt Palace, a beloved feminist art collective based in Providence, has been enlisted to help administer the artist selection process and to oversee commissions.
All portraits will be added to Gather RI’s permanent collection to inspire and educate the public about women and gender expansive people of achievement from around the globe.
Applications are due to The Dirt Palace by April 25, 2024. Winning applicants will be notified by the end of May 2024 with commissions completed by early 2025.
